I had a great time painting live and collaborating on a giant piece with the artists from the Vision train for the 1st annual Regenaissance Miami event. This was held Nov. 30th-Dec. 2nd in Little Haiti in Miami.
Wow, words cannot describe the beauty and the flow of this Veteran retreat. Warriors’ Awakening Retreat was a huge success. We managed to create a harmonious, safe and abundant space for healing and laughter. 10 veterans and 1 civilian came together for 5 days of health and healing complete with organic meals, art workshops, yoga, flower essence, nature hikes, sweat lodge, equine therapy, cold water plunge, and so much more. It felt like we accomplished so much together. This was a beautiful group and we bonded so much! Much love to you all! I can’t wait to see what you all create in the world! And thank you for the supporters who donated funds to help the Vets attend this retreat in Roxbury, Maine. Much love to Crystal and Ryan for bringing forth this vision with me. Stay tuned for upcoming dates for Warriors' Awakening Retreat 2022! #humannaturehostel #veteran #veteranretreat #visionary#visionaryveteran #armyvet #navyvet #airforcevet #marinevet#usmc #nationalguard #healingptsd #community #love #trust#laughter #fun #art Wow! It's been 15 years since I left the Marine Corps as a former military journalist.
I got out and never looked back and thus, haven't created any new articles.... until now! I am super excited to challenge myself and retry an old skill. I connected with the Psychedelic Times and became a guest writer while interviewing one of my painting teachers and visionary art mentors, Amanda Sage! I was living in Guatemala with limited internet but was able to connect with her via zoom and chat about her art, The Vision Train, her connection to plant medicines and how she taps into the spirit realms. =) Check out this link to see the full article here Amanda will be showing her work at the Mesa Arts Center in Mesa, AZ for her exhibition entitled, “Vision Seeds” from Sept 10, 2021-Jan 16,2022. Find her on the web here- https://www.amandasage.com And Instagram here- https://www.instagram.com/amandasageart/ And find out how to sign up for the Vision Train Here http://www.visiontrain.org/non-stop-vision-train-global-art-jam.html
I just finished an interview with my friend, Lauren Schwind of the Subnormal Podcast! Check me out during this fun interview where we talk about Visionary Art, Plant medicines, Moral injury and self love rituals in the desert!

Simply immersing ourselves in Nature offers a much more affective way of healing our inner selves, and sometimes all it takes is sitting around a fire on the mountain under a celestial starry night, reminiscing with a band of brothers & sisters. Warriors' Awakening Retreat 2019 picturesWhat people are saying about W.A.R. Warriors' Awakening Retreat- I’ve recently launched my new Youtube Channel to share my time-lapse videos of me painting or interviews with fascinating people. One thing about me is, I keep it real. As a former military journalist, I’m using the interviewing skills that I learned while being a combat correspondent in the Marine Corps and integrating them into my much calmer lifestyle. Join me as I interview my good friends and fascinating people.
